First time going to a parlor to get a half sleeve drawn up (elbow and below) Any advice?

First time going to a parlor to get a half sleeve drawn up of strict american traditional/Sailor Jerry styled work, Any advice? Tips? Pictures? I want to avoid nude pin-ups and skulls. Would the artist himself help me find some other traditional styled flash designs?
