Is Jerry Springer a good representation of Americans?

Much of the world airs Jerry Springer and a lot of the American stereotype (loud, annoying, brash) comes from it - it must be one of the most syndicated and watched shows in the world.

So is Jerry Springer an accurate representation of Americans in any way? Even if the contestants are fake (which I assume because they literally don't act in a human way normally, like even the little smiles when they hear revelations), the audience often strips naked and are always really rude and loud. If you watch the UK and Australian counterparts (Jeremy Kyle is airing in the US, for instance) everyone in the audience is respectful and never strips or does crazy things like that.

So is Jerry Springer at all a representation of some of the US population (which viewers of the show abroad can only assume) or is it an embarrassment to US citizens?
