Ok, gunnit, pick one shotgun for both home defense and clays. Short stocks are better.

I've got a M&P 9mm for the house as well, but everyone needs a shotgun, right?

Mossberg 5xx is of course the old standby, but what about stocks? My wife has short arms and finds it very difficult to operate a pump. Semi-auto might be the way to go.

I don't intend to go hunting. It will see most of its life shooting clays, and then sitting by my bed (locked) as a home defense weapon.

Also, I'm in California so my choices are more limited.

Finally, I looked at the FAQ, and the "Firearm Choices for Home Defense" link points to a football video O_o.

Ok, what say you?
