Unplayable Lag

Hello I've downloaded PlayOnMac so I can play Plants Vs Zombies I bought on steam. But after awhile playing it the game gets so laggy its unplayable. Its not wifi because I have 588 MBPS and its not my laptop because its the brand new 2021 M1 macbook pro. Any suggestions/solutions?
