Landed a job in Downtown Portland. Looking at Neighborhoods like Goose Hollow, The Pearl, or Buckman West. Any tips?

I'm moving up there in May from Dallas, Texas. I'd be landing and probably staying in a hotel until I can get an apartment leased. We're hoping to use a lot of public transportation and bicycles. I'm trying to spend around $800/month for a one bedroom, so, would any of the spots in the Title be best to check out?
