Is the scientific food in The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret an analogy for us not using science to its full potential?

I know that David Cross is pretty liberal and anti-religion, so when I saw this funny/odd theme of scientific food in his show I was curious. Do you think he intentionally did this to maybe mock religion or something?

By the way if you have not seen this show please put it at the top of your list to watch because it is ridiculous.
