Every time a friend announces she's pregnant, I feel like I'm losing a friendship.
As a 30-year-old CF female, and one that doesn't just not want kids, but doesn't enjoy spending time with them either, I'm having a pretty rough time with the deluge of friends having babies. I'm glad my friends are happy, but every time one announces a pregnancy I feel like I'm being punched in the gut. "There goes another friend" is what I think.
I don't want it to be that way, but when people become parents, their lives change so drastically, and there really isn't any way to maintain the friendship at least until the kids are school-age.
Bottom line, another really good friend of mine has ordered ginger ale or water the last two times we've gone out. This is not at all typical of her. I'm 99% sure she's pregnant and it makes me want to cry. How awful is that? But it's how I feel. Does anyone else experience this?
