Can someone explain the appeal of electronic/house music to me?

I'm really not trying to hate on the genre, I'm genuinely interested in an answer to this. A lot of my friends seem to be really in to this fairly popular form of music (Deadmau5, Skrillex, etc.), and after trying many times to indulge, I can't seem to find it appealing. What's more odd is that some of my closer friends who I've always shared very similar tastes in music with are really in to this stuff now, so I'm surprised I haven't transitioned. So can someone explain the appeal? Is it that it makes you wanna party? Is it relaxing to listen to? What am I missing?
