AskReddit, what is your best inebriated success story? I'll start...
The scene is Glastonbury Festival, UK, 2011. Thursday or Friday afternoon, and my friend (Douglas) and I are sitting in our camp, drinking. We were fairly comfortable in our chairs and the view was excellent. Douglas' girlfriend and her friend, Belinda and Gertha, stopped by to have a chat, and to show off their Dance Village backstage passes. (Gertha's father was someone important. Surname: Bryan) By the time they left, we were many beers deep and our jimmies were rustled. We needed those passes.
We got moving in the early evening, and walked straight to the path between the Pyramid stage and the John Peel stage. Just beyond that path there was a signed off area, guarded by security, who were sitting to one side. Douglas and I walked straight past them, as best we could, and they let us continue. We could barely contain ourselves, this was great. We were, however only through the first level of security, and we were confronted at the next level. At this point we said Gertha's surname, which happened to ring a bell with the security and they let us through. It was too easy. We could see the magical Dance Village backstage area by this point, and the last level of security. This man was slightly more difficult, but we managed to persuade him that we were who we said we were, but we just didn't have our security passes yet. He directed us to a portacabin, and left us there to talk with the woman there.
"Who are you two then?" She asked. "Bryan party" I mumbled, not quite able to stand normally.
She looked this up on her computer. "You two must be Merry and Pippin!"
Douglas and I couldn't believe our luck. Not only were there passes to be had, but she gave us the names!
"Yep. That's us."
And that was it! Those passes were worth their weight in gold. The first thing we did when we entered the backstage was to go up a ramp into the backstage of a Dance Tent (Possibly the silent disco) and walk onto the stage . We were ushered out pretty quickly.
tl;dr beer, fraud.
