Home opener vs Montreal discussion thread

Final result: 2-0 with the Crew looking much better than two weeks ago, though we did go a man up in the 20th. Loved the 4-4-2 and the great play on the wings. Hope we are able to keep it up against a better side.

Renteria and Vargas look great together up top, Grunenbaum does not play like would expect a backup to, and Anor showed some good skill today. The jury's still out on me for Milo. He is clearly skilled, but he doesn't seem to be clicking offensively yet. It seems like every time he gets the ball it ends up going backwards, not forwards. Not what you want to see from a playmaker.

Crew Stadium also looked very nice. The pitch was sharp, new LEDs look great, and 18,00 fans is better than last year's average. Lets hope we keep it up.

The not so nice today: The officiating. Absolutely terrible. The ref absolutely lost control of the game in the last 15 minutes. Renteria took a shove at the top of the box, Gaven (I believe) got elbowed after a whistle, and Anor got absolutely taken down on a run into the box, all no-calls. At least something deserves to get called there, whether it's a foul or simulation. The sending off and the penalty will be the big items of discussion though. I didn't get a good look at the penalty, but Brovsky led with his elbow, and that's a no-question red.
