Are there any other teenagers thinking about enlisting in an armed service? If so, why?

I'm thinking about joining the navy for the sole reason of getting the GI bill for college,

reason being is that recently I found out my parents arent going to give me any financial backing because they think that I will not fully go through with aviation school at embry riddle and they think I will have wasted their money.
