Is cooking bacon in an oven really bad for you?

Sorry guys...wasn't sure if this was something to ask Reddit or Science.

I enjoy cooking from time to time, and I was talking to one of my friends on the phone about how I recently discovered how awesome bacon cooked in an oven is, when her boyfriend interjected that "bacon cooked in an oven doesn't kill all of the bacteria and you can get really sick from eating it. You have to cook it in a skillet. Proven fact."

I googled it but couldn't find anything that proved him right, so I thought I'd see if any of you guys know.

Is he correct or is he just being a know-it-all that doesn't in fact know it all? Normally I'd just blow him off, but he's some science major and I'm genuinely curious.
