Book suggestions?

I am looking for a new book (or series of books) that I will be consumed by. I am basically obsessed with the Hitchhiker's Guide books as well as anything by Kurt Vonnegut. I read a shit-ton of technical papers for work, so I try to move far far away from non-fiction. I tried a book suggestion generator, but I think I would prefer human opinions. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
