Why does Google Chrome force my computer to freeze?

Google Chrome worked flawlessly for months and then all of a sudden, it crapped out. it makes my whole computer, not just chrome, quit responding and I have to do a force restart. Unfortunately, my comp keeps windows that were open before the reboot and opens them again at launch so it kind of creates a terrible cycle. Sometimes I can hit the button that says don't open windows when rebooted, but thats rare. i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it didn't help. Help me Reddit! I hate Safari and miss Chrome :(
