I'm young, hardworking, and just left politics. Advice on how to start a career?
(tl;dr at the bottom)
Maybe I'm paying this more mind than it deserves, but I thought I'd ask others and get some more perspective on this.
I have a BA in Psychology with a low enough GPA that grad school wasn't an option (could be soon, but I don't want to right now). I taught at a tech college part time briefly before getting an opportunity to do something I was passionate about - politics.
I spent 12 months in that field. Working 7 days a week. Most of the time working 12 hour days. I had a great time and, just as importantly, I was really good at it. Unfortunately, it was a lifestyle I couldn't keep up - I burned out last month.
So, now I'm unemployed. I don't want to do anymore campaigning. I want to get back to 40-50 hour work weeks and work for more than minimum wage. The one problem being - I worked for the liberal side of the aisle the last year. Democrats, unions, etc.
I'm willing to move anywhere in the country. I'd love a job I can stay at a while, maybe start putting down some roots. How negative of an effect will my pro-labor, pro-dem resume have on my job search? Any advice on where I should start looking for work? I see a lot of IT postings, but I don't know anything about that. I'm great with people, can work ridiculous hours when necessary, and pick up new skills with great ease. I just need to find someone willing to give me that chance. Thanks Reddit!
tl;dr: Resume full of pro-union, pro-democrat work. Want out of campaigning. Will work my ass off and work anywhere. Don't know where to look for a job or to find employers who are going to be OK hiring me.
