I can't stand Sam Adams "Boston Lager".
Sorry in advance for this rank but I absolutely can not stand Sam Adams Boston Lager. Maybe its because to me it tastes more like an Ale than a lager? I grew up drinking Yuengling and that is what a true lager should taste like. Cold and crisp full flavored but not nutty or spicy.
The other reason I can't stand it is that there are no other lagers in New England. Yuengling is sold from NY to FL but NOT in any of the New England states. Also Yuengling doesn't charge an arm and a leg for their beer. It is usually priced the same as Bud Lite, what a deal.
Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough but most if not all of the micro/macro brews in NE just do Ales. I live just up the road from the Red Hook Brewery and they do a decent Pilsner but I want a solid lager. If I want to taste a good lager the closest thing to it that I can buy around here is a German import Spaten.
So Anyway: Beer people help me!
Are there any other beers available in NE that are 1. Good and 2. Not going to kill my checking account?
Thanks
EDIT: Sorry so many people are Sam Adams Homers, fuck! I wasn't talking about their whole lineup I was talking about their Boston Lager. I have yet to get advise from you Sam Lovers on if there are any other good lagers available in New England or am I doomed to have to pay for Spaten and loading up on Yuengling when I travel back to where they sell it.
