How to display a book design in my portfolio?

I'm a student putting together my portfolio for the first time, and one piece I'm considering including is a book layout I designed. Should I show a digital version? Scan a spread? Photograph of the whole book? All of the above?

Advice or examples from your own portfolios would be much appreciated :-)
