Canadians of Reddit, what's your healthcare system like?
I was having an argument with my mom (both of us in the US) about Canadian healthcare. I was trying to point out that the socialized system that you guys have is better than the privatized system we have. She said that I was talking stupid and that your system is not better. Some of the points she was trying to make include:
- If you break your arm in Canada, you'll have to wait approximately a week to get it set in a cast
- If you hurt your back in Canada, you have to wait 6 months before you get any sort of physical therapy
I'm just wondering a few things myself now. How long do you have to wait for treatment? Also, would you say your quality of treatment is diminished because your system is socialized?
