My best friend and I just had a talk about religion. She's not an atheist but it turned out better than I expected.

I just had to tell someone..I don't have a phone with screen shot capabilities (I know, I know) so here is our text convo verbatim. I'm an atheist and I had no idea what her religious views were till this. FYI: we have an ongoing joke about how we hate children.

*Prior to our conversation she told me that her extremely Christian friend teaches Sunday school and asked her to come and help her out. She responds to her with: "I think you know the answer to that question" her friend: "yeah you're right"

-BF to me: She must be crazy thinking that I'd stumble into that classroom still a little drunk, wreaking of cigarettes and cussing at the children.

-me: Go with her and tell them that god is made up and they need to start using reason.

-BF: Maybe bring stuff supporting evolution, show them that everything we do is based purely on science-we don't feel happy because god wants us to, we feel happy because serotonin reuptake channels open and the exchange of neurotransmitters across synapses.

-me: Haha that'll show em

-BF: I love telling kids that the sky isn't blue for any artistic or special reason. its just a matter of rays that are absorbed across the spectrum of light. Science I tell you.

-me: and this is why you're my best friend

-BF: I really think we should end up having kids, what other parents will be this honest? all we're doing is encouraging idiots to multiply and let our brilliant selves die off.

-me: Too true. Although I really like the idea of messing with someone else's kids who have their parents ideas shoved down their throats. Are you secretly atheist? Or just pro reason?

-BF: No, I'm still somewhat religious, I've always believed in god and Jesus, I just think its ignorant to say you're putting your entire life in their hands, I kinda like my shit to be in my own hands. I'd rather have intelligence than blind faith.

me: You ma'am, are my kind of Christian.

-BF: hahaha Christians for Abortions, that's my organization, I was all alone.

TLDR I'm an atheist and I found out that my best friend believes in god but puts reason first. Best day ever.
