Does anyone else feel guilty for having depression?
In 11 and a half hours I turn 22. For the last 4 years I've been diagnosed with severe depression, however vague being 'diagnosed with depression' can be. But my question is, do you ever feel guilty for having depression, or depressive states?
Over the last week I've had a bad stint of 'the blues', call it what you will, and not being able to snap out of it is starting to get on my nerves. Friends seem to be drifting away from me quickly, as I can't maintain a pleasant conversation with anyone at the moment. And they don't fully understand how it feels to be like this, usually their response is along the lines of "Just fucking snap out of it!". I feel I'm losing close connections when I'm in this state, and I feel guilty that I put them through this.
Now, "This isn't a pity party. It's not even a party. It's just sad." (Andy, The Office), so I don't want sympathy I just want to know how others deal with this. Do you feel guilty for being so negative in a depressive state towards loved ones? And how do you deal with it, without losing hope and being a catatonic blob?
ps. Hope you're having a nice day reddit :)
