Wooden countertop in the bathroom. Help me with some choices.

I'm looking at trying a wooden countertop in a small guest bathroom. I have some Cypress and magogany, either which can be exposed to water without too much drama. The wood will get a finish of some sort, and top coated with Poly. Has anyone done this? The material is 3/4" thick, so I will be doubling it up on the edge, and rounding it over top and bottom. The sink will be underhung, with the material doubled up around here as well. This should also help to strengthen the top.
