Damage per die roll?

What would yield a higher average damage per roll, a 1d10+1 or a 1d12. Or are they virtually the same thing? I am trying to decide whether to use a feat to use a 1d12 Great bow for my D&D 4e Ranger or stick with the 1d10 Long Bow and take the plus 1 to bow damage feat. Thanks in advance for the advice.
