Was anyone else "taught" this sort of lesson primary/young men's/youn women's?

scott and christy decided to get a civil marriage because Scott's family were non religious and wouldn't be able to view the marriage in the temple. On the day after their wedding, christy and Scott died in a car accident. Now they can't be together forever since they weren't married in the temple.

We were "taught" this lesson multiple times to show that the temple marriage is the only valid, true marriage and anyone who can't marry you in one is not worth your time. Also, family doesn't come first! The church does!
