Practical constructs of infinity

Wanted to share this real quick:

Ask yourself the question: Who first thought up the idea of infinity?

You might instantly say something like, "Newton, and he applied it to Math" or "The Greeks, we derive the word from theirs." But, did they really invent the idea to infinity, or were they the first to apply it?

Let me ask another question: What would life be like for someone who didn't understand the idea of infinity? And can you imagine it? Try and remember a time from your own life before you understood the concept of infinity, and how you generally thought.

The short answer, is, of course, that you can't. Without the construct of infinity, we can't define things. It doesn't make any sense to create an idea of something that's at all meaningful without first defining it in a context that stresses fundamental inclusion, as well as exclusion.

Whatever, I don't quite know if i'm articulating it correctly. Have fun discussing.
