[SMP][PvE][Whitelist][100% Legit] The Sandlot - A kid-friendly Minecraft Server (1.2.4)
The Sandlot is a kid- and family- friendly Minecraft server. This primarily means that offensive language and structures will not be tolerated. It is open to players of any age (and we do have a decent adult population), but with the understanding that children play here, and that everything needs to remain PG.
I am a 31-year-old parent and teacher, and made this server primarily as a safe place for my nephew and his friends to play. We have since opened it to other players, and at prime times have an average of 5-6 players online (currently with a 15-slot cap).
The server itself is up 24/7. It has been running for around 3 months, though we started a new map with 1.2.3, so it is only a few weeks old. This map will stay until some kind of major biome change occurs that we can only get with a new map.
A main goal of The Sandlot is to duplicate as close as possible the vanilla singleplayer survival experience. We want you to be able to build as you will, while having the bonus of other players around, but without worrying about them griefing or stealing your stuff. That said, we do use a few mechanic-changing plugins to reduce drama and add a bit of convenience. Players can lock doors and chests, and upon request, can have their structures protected. We also have /spawn and /home commands, both on a 30-minute cooldown.
We are also 100% legit, meaning nothing has ever nor will ever be spawned. I have in fact disabled the /give command, and there is no /kit, etc. Everything has been mined/crafted/grown by players.
Because of the general vulgarity, childishness, and fundamental disregard of others in the Minecraft community combined with my goal of making this a safe place for children to play, I have no choice but to keep it whitelisted. If you would like to check us out, I created a very simple website at http://sandlot.hopto.org Visit the forums, read the rules, and post in the "Whitelist Requests" board. I will do a brief investigation to make sure you aren't a known griefer, and you will generally be approved within a few hours.
Thanks and happy Minecrafting!
