Coming out to family, Y/N ?

Hey AL, I need to share this with someone... But first, some background info. I was born in Russia, my mother and I emigrated to Canada in 2001 (I was eleven years old) and since then I've only gone back once. We still keep in contact with my aunt and my grandparents over phone/email.

You see, they don't know that I like girls. I came out to my mom when I was 17 and I'm pretty sure she hasn't told them, so phone calls can get kind of awkward when my grandmother asks if I have a boyfriend yet or when the wedding is. I kind of want to tell them just so I can stop acting as if this entire part of me doesn't exist, but I also don't think they will be very supportive. Russia's recent history with LGBT rights has been pretty depressing, and I know it would be easier to just leave them out of it... I actually don't even know if there's a word for "lesbian" in Russian o_o

Does anyone else have issues with family "back home"?
