alright bring out the tissue boxes... what's the saddest moment of your life?
alright well this is just one of those nights where I'm just feeling down and figured why not let reddit share their sadness with me... I'll begin with my saddest story. It has to do with my grandmother. She passed away last August and she was honestly one of the sweetest people in the world. She used to care so much for all of her kids and grand kids. Every birthday the first call at 8:00 AM would be her to wish us a happy birthday and she never forgot a single one. Well, her and my grandfather never got along. My grandfather made life very tough for her and was a very domineering person. They should've been divorced right when they got married but you have to understand that this was in India about 40 years ago, divorce simply wasn't an option. My grandmother used to beg her parents to allow her to get a divorce but they simply wouldn't allow it. So my grandmother did what she could. She suffered through the toughest life underneath her husband's cruel control and raised her five kids. Now my saddest encounter was when we visited India to see my grandparents. My family and all my cousins came and we all stayed in my grandparents' house. One day when nobody else was around my grandmother called all the boys to come sit around her chair. We all sat listening as she looked into all of our eyes and said the words i will never be able to forget. She looked at us and said "I never ask anybody to do anything for me. I only want one thing from all of you" and she paused as her eyes teared up a bit and she said "all i want, is no matter what... just please treat your wives with respect. Treat them as nicely as you can" and her voice trailed off as she was choked with tears. As a nine year-old kid i didn't truly understand what she meant, but her pain was so imminent that all of us couldn't help but choke back tears alongside of her. even thinking back to it now i still have to try and hold my tears back. I still feel bad for not getting to know my grandmother better, but i know that there can't be a woman stronger than her. Well, sorry if the story isn't written that well but it's emotional for me. Now, what are some of your guys' sad stories
