Shout out to GreenLight

Other

So I received a call from GreenLight telling me they noticed something wrong with my signal. I have not noticed any loss but the ONT was occasionally flashing red. They came out and checked the splice at my house and then at the pole and found a bad splice there. I am very pleased they took a proactive approach to prevent a possible outage (even though I did not have an issue). Thank you GreenLight.

Where as spectrum will tell you to reset your modem again even after I explained that a dump truck just drove by and ripped the wire down and it's laying in the street. Then blame my router.

I can't wait for greenlight.

Fuck, our router shit the bed at the beginning of lockdown. After two days of no internet (which really fucking sucks when you live in a brick building with shit reception) I finally got in contact with spectrum. First I got a teleprompter that told me to reset my modem and way 15 minutes, and to stay on the line if that didn’t work. After sitting on hold for two hours, the CS person said “well reset it and tell me if that fixes it” and I told them I already did it and they still had me do it. After I told them that it didn’t fix it, their response was “yeah that’s weird, our system is showing you haven’t had a connection in two days” yeah no shit! So they sent a tech out to us two days later, who walked in, looked at the modem, told us it was dead, replaced it, and was gone.

Spectrum needs to fucking die

I work in IT and I know the pain of people not doing the simple steps you ask and driving an hour to then plug something in that they told me was plugged in, but I feel like spectrum just assumes every customer has the brain power of curdled milk and treats them as such.

I love how they can tell you haven't had a connection for x amount of days but they will never prorate your bill. I went out of the country before and came back to a non-working internet, which they told me had been out 11 days due to their problem. Wouldn't even knock $10 off for the month.

That's odd, I've always been able to get them to do that. Only three occasions, but I'm 3/3.

Rochester transplant here; just be happy you don't have Comcast/Xfinity. Imagine Spectrum, but way....way worse.

I no longer live in Rochester but I now live in a co-op apartment building with Optimum as the provider who has a local monopoly. Our building is the actual customer and the residents simply get service from the building as part of our ownership agreements.

Someone did some renovation in their apartment last year that tore out a wire affecting service for about 1/3-1/2 the building. Each tenant had to schedule their own appointment with the provider to restore service. The workers would refuse to service any other apartment than the one they were assigned to while on site.

Some of the work done in one apartment would cut off sevice in another.

Our entire building watched Optimum play whack-a-mole with our connections/outages for 2 months

Spectrum actually notified me of a signal leak and came to try and fix it before it caused a service issue. The catch is this: signal leaks are regulated by the FCC and mine was above the allowed threshold, so they *had* to do something to remain in compliance. It was proactive in the sense that I had no impact to service when they notified me...but their infrastructure was out of compliance. I'll let you decide if this is good or bad on your own.

I had this exact issue, but it was brought to my attention protectively when I was inquiring about a static IP. They said the signal was low, asked if I had any issues (to which I said no). They had a tech out the next day and fixed the line to my house. I've had to send them two emails and have gotten responses within an hour with a 1 email resolution. I've been incredibly happy with their Internet service, and their customer service as well.

Shout out to Greenlight. I live in walking distance of your corporate office and cannot get Greenlight. What's going on?
