Been working hard but wife doesn't appreciate efforts.
My wife (24F) doesn't recognize my hard work (25M). I have worked at the same company since graduating college. They are a good company and I have had some success while working there. I have had a few promotions and recently landed a manager role making 30% more than I did previously. I work easily 12 hour days but am proud of what I do. My year end bonus compensation was $10K. I was estatic and super proud of how far I've come.
However my wife doesn't see it that way. She constantly complains how much I work and that I'm not making enough money. It's not like I don't make enough time for her, we spend alot of time together. I even video chat her every day over lunch from my office. Worse part she says things infront of my in-laws that makes me feel super crumby. They will listen and often take her side.
For example at Thanksgiving someone mentioned at the table "oh congratulations, you must be doing well and making good money". She interjected and said "No he doesn't really get paid a whole alot". Her family kind of smerked and I totally feel disrespected. They don't know how much I make, but I know for a fact it's more than they do.
When I realized I was getting $10K year end bonus I was super excited to tell her. She kinda downplayed it and said well it's going to be like $7 by the time taxes come out...
I was feeling excited and so proud of myself. And now I just feel shitty. I tried telling her how it makes me feel, but she just gets upset about it. Not really sure what to do and I just feel depressed and like a looser.
