Day of date, confirmation text?

Chatted very briefly with a man online and he asked me out on a date. This was last week and he gave me the time and location. We did not communicate in between and today is the day of our date. About 5 days since he asked. Should I expect a confirmation or just show up at the time and place? I know all of this can be eased if I just reach out to confirm, but to be honest I'm lukewarm about this person so can kind of take it or leave it. Thoughts?
