AITA Girlfriend is bothered by my loud chewing (mouth closed)
I'm aware of misophonia, my SO has some level of it and has mentioned it. I try my best to chew quietly but we'll be talking during dinner and she'll suddenly just stop and glare at me, letting me know my crunching or what not (never with my mouth open) is too loud.
It's a glare now because she has repeatedly told me that i chew too loudly (again, closed). I'm not eating faster than her and am keeping lips closed until the swallow. I'm not sure what i can do differently in these situations. I was eating sauteed onions from a Mexican restaurant in the 'glare' example from last night. They're crunchy but barely. Just to the bite. I feel like I'm barely making any noise but she persists in being upset at me.
I want to tell her to fuck off, but of course value my personal well being and I'm not trying to wind up on the wrong side of one of these posts. Also no one else in my 30+ years of chewing with my mouth closed has ever mentioned it.
Am i wrong to think this is her problem? I have tried to accommodate her and don't want to create anxiety for her unnecessarily... Am i the asshole for resenting her comments and glares?
