Scar tissue pain
I'm 10 weeks post-op and since 8 weeks post op I've had pain in the front of my hip that I initially thought was tendinitis, but now I am pretty sure it is scar tissue pain since it is right around my one incision. My surgeon didn't explain scar tissue to me and my PT didn't either, but PT started doing scar massage on me at about 3 weeks post op where they just use their finger in light circular motions for a few minutes. When I asked PT what happens if I didn't do scar massage on my own, they said "nothing, you'll just have a bump there." So I was under the impression that scar massage was basically just to reduce the scar for cosmetic reasons and so I was kind of half-assed doing it this whole time.
Now after realizing my pain is from scar tissue, I'm spending all day watching videos and reading about scar tissue massage. I've started to do it twice a day for 5 min each time. Can I do it more than that? I know 10 weeks is considered very early in this recovery so do I still have time to break down the scar tissue and get rid of the pain? I'm a little worried that I spent a good chunk of time being misinformed about scar tissue and I'm going to need scar tissue removal surgery. Has anyone here successfully broke down their scar tissue from painful to painfree?
