Movies that fail to make a character the bad guy

I'll start with Howl (2015):

The movie makes it obvious that we are supposed to hate the tall guy, but it falls flat as everything he does makes sense;

Demanding that the train be unlocked- They had just crashed and would not be receiving a rescue for numerous hours, no one knew about the Werewolves at this point.

Trying to kill the woman- She had been bit by a Werewolf and was slowly turning (teeth falling out, fever) and everyone knew about the creatures long before she turned.

He gets knocked out by the lead so that the woman survives. Why is he supposedly in the wrong? They are in a cramped environment and one of the creatures could easily kill them all.

The end of this film is him getting his "comeuppance" by being eaten. So he deserved to die for trying to kill a transforming woman? Bullshit.
