Favorite Male Challenges According to the Sub(2021 Edition)
So a couple weeks ago I posted this post asking members of this sub to rank their favorite males and females. This list is for the guys, for the girls go here. Without anything else to go over, here is the list:
25. Jay Starrett (Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X)
24. Rogan O’Connor (Ex on the Beach UK 2) and Yes Duffy (Road Rules: Semester at Sea)
22. Evan Starkman (Fresh Meat) and Theo Von (Road Rules: Maximum Velocity Tour)
20. Tony Raines (Real World: Skeletons)
19. Theo Campbell (Love Island UK 3)
18. Brad Fiorenza (Real World: San Diego 2004) and Devin Walker (Are You the One? 3)
16. Kenny Santucci (Fresh Meat)
15. Timmy Beggy (Road Rules: USA-The Second Adventure)
14. Turabi "Turbo" Çamkıran (Survivor Turkey 2014)
13. Cory Wharton (Real World: Ex-Plosion)
12. Nelson Thomas (Are You the One? 3)
11. Cohutta Grindstaff (Real World: Sydney)
10. Derrick Kosinski (Road Rules: X-Treme)
Debut Season: Battle of the Sexes 2
Latest Season: All Stars 2
Last Year’s Rank: #5
Peak: #4
Quite dip for Derrick here, though I guess that’s what a pretty quiet season on All Stars 1 and an early flameout on All Stars 2 gets you. Still, Derrick is without a doubt one of the scrappiest players in Challenge history. His eliminations against Wes and Joss are both discussed as some of the best in the history of the show, and that’s not even mentioning his four wins on Gauntlet 2. He may no longer be sitting in the top 5 but he’s still receiving a lot of love.
9. Abram Boise (Road Rules: South Pacific)
Debut Season: The Gauntlet
Latest Season: Battle of the Bloodlines
Last Year’s Rank: #8
Peak: #6
Despite not appearing in several seasons, Crazy Abe still manages a spot in the top 10. He’s known for his intense personality and being able to go completely nuts in a second. The guy got a nosebleed from just cheering on his brother in elimination. He’s been close to appearing on both All Stars seasons but unforeseen circumstances kept him off both, hopefully he can make an appearance on the spin off soon.
8. Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio (Real World: Key West)
Debut Season: The Duel
Latest Season: Total Madness
Last Year’s Rank: #6
Peak: #6
The all time winningest Challenger takes a dip after not appearing on back to back seasons. Widely hated but also widely loved, Johnny went out with a win and currently seems content keeping it that way. His other ventures seem to be working out for but I doubt we’ve seen the last of Bananas, I’m sure he will eventually be back to reclaim his.
7. Kyle Christie (Geordie Show)
Debut Season: Vendettas
Latest Season: Spies, Lies, and Allies
Last Year’s Rank: #11
Peak: #7
Kyle sneaks his way back into the top ten and at a new peak like the snake he is. After numerous close finals appearances and heartbreaking eliminations right before the final the Brit has gained himself many fans. His skills in events such as Pole Wrestle and great commentary make him a balanced personality on the show, bringing both a competitive spirit and charismatic tv. He was only a bit off of winning on this latest season, at this point in time it would seem unfathomable to not see him win eventually.
6. Jordan Wiseley (Real World: Portland)
Debut Season: Rivals 2
Latest Season: Total Madness
Last Year’s Rank: #7
Peak: #6
He hasn’t been on back to back seasons since his early flameout on Total Madness but three wins and lots of drama surrounding his breakup with Tori certainly keeps his name in conversation. Despite challenges that come from his hand, Jordan has proven to be one of the all time greats on the show. His personality may be highly divisive but he certainly gathers lots of fans even if he has lots of haters as well. As long as Tori isn’t around, I’m sure we will see him soon.
5. Leroy Garrett (Real World: Las Vegas 2011)
Debut Season: Rivals
Latest Season: Double Agents
Last Year’s Rank: #4
Peak: #4
Often labeled as the best to never win, Leroy rode off into the sunset after announcing his retirement at the end of Double Agents. Despite being an all time great physical competitor he was never able to put it all together to end up with a win. His biggest quality wasn’t how strong he was but was how great of a guy he was on the show, frequently being talked about as one of the nicest guys on the show. He may not have earned a win but he definitely earned the respect from the cast and fans alike.
4. Landon Lueck (Real World: Philadelphia)
Debut Season: The Inferno 2
Latest Season: Fresh Meat 2
Last Year’s Rank: #3
Peak: #3
For the first time since I started this, Landon isn’t ranked in the top 3. It’s been over a decade since he last competed but he’s still talked about as one of the greatest to ever do it. His win on Fresh Meat is often discussed as possibly the best finals performance of all time and his Duel 2 season is regularly talked about as one of the most dominant seasons to not end in a win. We probably won’t see him again any time soon but if we do then you just know he’s coming to compete.
3. Darrell Taylor (Road Rules: Campus Crawl)
Debut Season: The Gauntlet
Latest Season: All Stars 2
Last Year’s Rank: #9
Peak: #3
After a couple years of sliding down the rankings, Darrell manages to climb all the way to a new peak position. Despite losing an elimination late in Double Agents, Darrell managed a great performance in All Stars season 1 even though he lost his first finals appearance. On All Stars 2 he’s already looking at another great performance, but will he be able to redeem himself and get another win? That remains to be seen but even if he’s not able to he’s still one of the most likable people the show has to offer.
2. Wes Bergmann (Real World: Austin)
Debut Season: Fresh Meat
Latest Season: Double Agents
Last Year’s Rank: #2
Peak: #1
After being targeted early in Double Agents and losing to one of his closest allies, Wes talked about taking a break from the show to focus on his business. He still manages to get his usual #2 spot without much fret. He remains one of the most iconic personalities that the show has to offer, even when he’s out early he remains talked about. He may say that he won’t be seen any time soon but it wouldn’t be the first time he lied about coming on. Whenever his next appearance is though, I’m sure he’s hungry for another deep run.
1. Chris "CT" Tamburello (Real World: Paris)
Debut Season: The Inferno
Latest Season: Spies, Lies, and Allies
Last Year’s Rank: #1
Peak: #1
What more is there to say about CT that hasn’t already been said? The man has added two more wins to his resume and remains the most intimidating figure the show has ever. Despite no longing being the angry hothead and turning himself into the lovable family man, nobody would dare cross him out of fear of what his retaliation would look like. Who knows how many more seasons he has left in him but no matter what, when he’s on the season he’s always a threat to make it far and if he does then it is hard to stand in the way of him and a win.
So those are the guys. Leave your thoughts down below. Also go check out the female list and leave your thoughts there.
