My door isn't straight (and it sucks)
My door sucks.
You have to specifically shove it into the doorframe, otherwise it will open by itself. And even while closed, I can still hear everything happening in my house.
Also the handle broke, so I called a locksmith.
As he replaced some screws, I asked if he could figure out why my door wouldn't close properly. Like really you have to close it and then push your body into it.
He looked at it and told me it was a little bent. It's a really small curve, but it's just enough that one end of the door won't normally fit into the frame unless you push it in.
The fact it's curved also means more sound can come in, since there's more space for it to pass through.
Which means the curve is the cause of all my problems.
So yeah, it sucks. And new doors are expensive.

Wish I could help. I’ve done renovations and some construction, sometimes it can be fixed by adjusting the hinges. You could also try getting some weather stripping, like the narrow foam strips, and put them on the edge of the door jamb where the door is supposed to touch the jam, in the places where the door sits away from the jam, to help a little with noise. The noise might also be coming from under the door, in which case there are door sweeps that you could attach to the bottom of the door to block that gap a little. But if you’re able to hire a locksmith, you might find it worthwhile to hire a handyman or someone local in construction to come adjust the door hinges/frame for you to at least make it better to close, and so some weather stripping would work.
