At a lost with my puppy's 1.5 week straight diarrhea...
Anybody have any clue what might be the problem? My 7 month old Samoyed puppy started getting diarrhea last Monday December 13th and was put on a Hills Prescription bland diet for three days and metronidazole. Fecal was negative and we assumed it was just a stomach flu ... It worked for a bit and after she was done with both the food and meds, her poop came back massively runny. December 21st she was put back on metronidazole for five days and a trial period for her diet and is now taking Hills Prescription for a couple weeks and see if it's a dietary problem. It's been 24 hours and metronidazole is not working AT ALL and she's still having diarrhea. I would think it would work immediately since it did last time but she's still having the runs. She's eating her new food too. I'm really not sure what to do honestly and if I should just wait it out more. It's the holiday season and my vet will be closed. My boyfriend will be taking care of her for three days while I am at my parents and honestly, I feel like I need to change my plans and stay with her to monitor her.
She's acting completely normal, super excited, hyper, playful, HUGE appetite, drinks water normally. She's literally a normal dog with massive watery explosive poops.
Prescription food is dry chicken kibble and wet turkey.
Her normal kibble she use to eat was Purina pro puppy plan chicken and rice. Idk if it just comes down to being allergic to something...
Update December 23: her poop is runny with a mixture of VERY slightly firm stools... It's like melted ice cream but some are still on the frozen side... Lol sorry that's the best way I can explain it.

If the meds don’t work, talk to your vet about moving away from chicken. It’s the most common allergen and most prescription foods will have a different flavor. My dog just had gastrointestinal symptoms for his allergy and removing chicken fixed everything within a few days.
I might do this, thank you!
