All these swing help vids…

Is it me or do they all seem like people posting their absolutely best swing they ever videoed and then saying they are 20-30+ handicap and think that random internet people can help them somehow tweak their drive and thereby massively improve their game instead of addressing the fact that they probably suck at putting and chipping and are likely horribly inconsistent in striking the ball?

These videos (and the accompanying posts like this ranting against them) have been here as long as the sub and aren’t going anywhere. Don’t like ‘em? Scroll on past

Fair enough. Seems like they have been different lately. But I’ve not been here long.

Narcissism. And we’re all guilty of it to a certain degree

Any given swing is going to be a valid indicator of someone's swing. It doesn't matter if it's the best or worst result of the range session.

It's an interest group for anything golf related.

Swings are golf related. Interest groups discuss.

I don't see the problem.

Not a problem. Just ranting on the unlikeliness that a swing tip is all they need. When it is probably other stuff.

Think of it like a home improvement forum. Need help wiring up a fan? Might be shit advice, might be helpful.

Everybody taking it seriously has a better outlet for swing help than Reddit. These people just want to be a part of the community, and we shouldn’t dissuade them from picking up a game that is tough to deal with as a beginner.

Oh i am totally a beginner. It was a mostly honest question on why people post those etc. the other half was just a rant because I see so many that have decent swings which are clearly not the root of their issues.

There are legit scratch golfers on here that could probably lend a tip or two to most subscribers. Not everybody has the means to afford coaching, and some others want simply to post and contribute. If you are a beginner, you will soon learn that a decent swing =/= a good swing, and that difference can absolutely make or break a round.

I had never posted a video of my own swing. I wouldn’t dare do that to people on this sub. I have seen others with questions about their swing and some of the answers which include videos on YouTube have actually been really helpful for me. If I see a swing that even remotely resembles mine I’ll take a look at some of the answers and see what people have to say. Never hurts to exchange ideas.

Regardless of the result of the swing, that persons swing flaws are still going to be visible. When ppl have flawed swings the only difference between a good result and a bad result is whether or not all their compensations match up on that particular swing, but the swing to the naked eye is still going to look basically the same to the naked eye. There’s enough ppl on this sub that can give advice that’s good enough to at least gets the poster pointed in the right direction in fixing their biggest flaws. Like last weekend I played golf with one of my best friends. We r similarly skilled golfers, 9-11 handicaps, so not great at golf by any means. After about the 5th hole I started hitting the ball like an absolute asshole. Chunking or thinning everything. After the 10th hole, my buddy says “you’re not getting your weight to your front leg at all. You’re just spinning in place.” I started thinking about getting my weight thru the ball. That simple criticism immediately snapped me back into playing decent golf.

Is there something else going on in my swing that was causing me to not transfer my weight through? Probably. Neither me or my friend know what that other issue is but that criticism was enough to help me play a normal round of golf and I think that’s all that people are really looking for on here
