Christmas Trees (Dr. Seuss style) By Albert Chosenko

If you enjoy Christmas, And you celebrate it, You gift others presents And enjoy them for free, If you like the feeling Of late winter mornings, When you're reading a book Under lights of a tree,

Then in early December You get in your car, You drive to the store, You drive really far, When you finally get there, get out the car, You walk to the trees Leaving your door ajar.

You look at the trees, There's a lot here, there's many. We've got different sizes, They're all here, there's plenty.

There's tall ones, there's low ones, There's fat ones and thin ones, And if you don't like yours There's infinite refunds.

We've got different colors, They just cost a few dollars. Some are blue, some are red, Some are green, some are dead.

Some are orange, others brown, some are standing upside down. Some of them are plain dark, They are missing all their bark.

And we've got so much choices, You can even take courses, On how you can just see, Which is your perfect tree.

If you go on our site, You can buy our new book, You'll know which tree is right, From your very first look.

Our book has all the trees, You will find them with ease. We have offers like a tree, that can fit your chimney.

Most trees have just one stump. Ours have more than one bump. You can get one with two stumps, with four, even eight. Also install our app, to give us a rate.

And now this is not all, Oh no this is not. We've got trees different shapes, and they all do not rot.

We've got one shaped a circle And one is shaped a square. One tree is an umbrella, This one is a huge bear.

And now this is not all, oh no this is not. our trees can be cloned, we make one tree a lot.

If you like the shape of a tree that you got, we can clone one for you (just ask out tree bot).

On the topic of tree bots, (They're still trees) we got lots. Our trees can be computerized, Just don't break them (do not).

We have hologram trees, look the same, you can see. if you want "spot the difference" you can try, its for free.

Now if you owned trees, You know there's many spikes. they will sting if you squeeze, and do not get much likes.

Now the worst thing about them, is they fall to the floor. but you know we have fake trees, they get bought more and more.

And if you do not like trees, then get out of the store! I've been doing all this talking, and my mouth is now sore.

Otherwise you can stay. Look around the store. But now I have to go, I am tired to the core.

When the first time I came, I got my perfect tree, came home, set it down, and sat down with my tea.

My tree wasn't tall one, and it wasn't that short. It was not really rare, It was a common sort.

It was not different colors, It was just plain green. And the shape was a tree, (cause it wasn't a bean).

It was not electronic, and not a hologram. not a car not atomic, Its not fake (like i am).

My tree was the original. It was just plain tree. And you might want to get one too, like I got one for me.

This poem really brought me back to my childhood and perfectly exemplified the artistic nature of Dr. Seuss. The most reminiscent line was “there’s tall ones, low ones, there’s fat ones…” Hit a nostalgic spot!

Holy shit. Just. Wow. Love it and I think you did Dr. Suess proud! the rhyming and flow worked perfectly for what you were going for and it’s just so damn cheerful.

I love the flow of “There’s tall ones, there’s low ones, there’s fat ones and thing ones. And if you don’t like yours there’s infinite refunds.” This sounds just like one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish but it’s also different from it. You really, really nailed Dr. Suess here!

Okay okay god dammit this is so good. As I keep reading I keep adding how good this poem is in my comment.

One thing I did feel like was kinda a forced rhyme was “And we’ve got so much choices, you can even take courses”. Because at first I felt like it was off, then I read the next few lines and I got the idea your were going to now talk us into buying your course on picking trees as well as buying their course. I was hoping you would’ve continued off of this idea and continued trying to talk about this course on buying trees and how they should buy unit that too to give more money. But you ignore that “courses” rhyme you made and go back to talking about trees. I’m sure it’s really hard to refine these types of poems, but maybe try to slide in some stuff about how these are some things you can learn in this course that you offer on buying a new tree that fits down your chimney.

Okay next line then gets into an app you have and I feel there is now a recurring theme of, “hey we don’t just sell trees, we have courses, an app, all three!”

I’m not a fan of the repetition of “And now this is not all, oh no this is not”. It doesn’t really fit in my honest opinion, but you may like it.

Oh man I need to get into one of these tree bots! First the trees, then the course and the app but not a bot! It feels like this shop has got the lot!

Love the addition of the parenthesis as if someone’s putting tiny copyright text on products.

I’m not a huge fan of the “You know there’s many spikes”. I like the line of getting likes, and how people get trees, take photos and post them on their socials in hopes of getting many views, but the rhyme with spike and stinging worse than bees doesn’t really fit. I get you’re probably talking about the pricks of the artificial tree petal stuff, but I’m not liking it here.

Also not a huge fan of the Sonic line. But I love the “It’s not a fake (like I am)” I felt that.

Thoughts on the last rhyme being “like I got one for free” as he’s the owner of the store. It adds a funny twist of how all these other trees have these price tags and all these other tree bots and courses and apps you tried to sell and how the owner just got it for free.

Overall? holy shit I love this! I feel like I just read a Dr. Suess book (which leads me nicely into my next comment)…. Get someone who can illustrate (maybe you can draw too, who knows), refine this poem, and make this into a damn book. I can already imagine all these products this funny Dr. Suess like character is trying to sell to this young person whose mom gave some money to buy.

The story I see in my head: Parents gives their child their credit card, or just a lot of money, and that kids walks into this tree store (have some funny name that works into the rhyme of the page/line introducing the store) and this extravagant salesman pops into his face, quietly notices the huge wad of cash the kid has and tries to sell him all these random items like square shaped trees or tree bots (which could be a fun little drawing), this tree choosing course (you could have a section where the kid is watching like a demo of the course and it’s just a tv screen of the salesman continuing the sales pitch) and also this app on the kids phone and in the end the kid is at checkout and the price tag is massive and the kid brings home like 15 trees, a tree bot, a course, and so many more and the salesman is laughing because he got it all for free.

God this was so good. Great job and let me know if this ever becomes a book I’d love to get my hands on it next Christmas!

Thank you so much! It feels so good to hear replies from people. I'll try to fix the poem up a little.

I'm thinking that I keep the original story of the poem and to add a story in the pictures, like since the money does not get mentioned in the actual poem, it will be as a picture.
