I take it the lower sign is the result of that long in the saddle

I dunno how you roadies do 8.5 hours in the saddle without your ass absolutely killing you. 3 hours in the saddle on my MTB is enough for my butt to be pretty sore and I'm probably out of the saddle for half of it. Hats off to you man. You guys on these epic rides tempt me to get into road cycling. Drops, jumps, and steep rolls are fine with me, but sharing the road with cars scares me shitless.

Having a less upright position puts more of the weight on your hands, arms, and core instead of your bottom.

My butt hurts a little sometimes but usually I just need to shift around a little or ride out of the saddle for 30 seconds or so and I'm fine.

Cars are a problem sometimes but I avoid a lot of the huge streets and stick to places with decent bike lanes or less traveled streets.

This ride I rode a huge loop and up NE of Phoenix into Cave Creek, AZ which wasn't super busy, maybe because of the holidays or because it was the middle of the day on a week day.

Playing in traffic is the best. But I don't live in America..
