Door might be crooked

Door is definitely more likely to be crooked.

Couldn't he use the plumb bob method to check? Where you put a plumb bob on the wall and shine a flashlight back through the scope to cast the reticle on the wall and see if it lines up with the plumb Bob. That would work wouldn't it?

Better than using a building structure that may not be remotely close to plumb. If you use a plumb bob, you know it’s 100% plumb

I wasn't using anything as a reference. Was just looking at the reticle itself. I may be able to take a better pic when I'm home

TiogaArms•

It definitely looks like a crooked reticle to me. What’s the scope and model?

6
block50OP•

It's a trijicon accupoint tr22 2.5-10x56

TiogaArms•

Notify trijicon for warranty/replacement. Trijicon will take care of ya, I’ve had to use warranty before on a thermal.

block50OP•

Thanks. Hoping they'll go through with it. Got it through a different seller via Amazon shipped to EU. It'll cost but it was still a steal.

Trijicon through Amazon? maybe not a Trijicon.

Also, what's it mounted on? Did you put a bubble level on your pic rail to make sure that's level?

colin33t•

Trijicon does the warranty service, not Amazon. As long as it’s 100% Authentic, Trijicon should have absolutely 0 problem with replacing/fixing the broken item. Give Trijicon a call and see what they say

JLMReloader•

Asl long as the erector assembly tracks in line with the reticle then who cares? Level the reticle on a plumb and see how it tracks

3
TheHomersapien•

I'd care if I spent hundreds of dollars and got a broken device.

2
JLMReloader•

I think you have the wrong definition of broken. Flawed maybe, but this won't effect the function of the optic and generally caps and turrets aren't level. Even the crappy levels you use to level them aren't level. Always use a plumb line. If you spend $2k on an optic and tell them the turret isn't level they'll laugh at you.

You don't mean canted, as in different angle compared to level measured by turret? Because that is pretty normal, I think most manufacturers allow +-1 degree tolerance, which can be seen if looked carefully.

What does look off is the lower half of the vertical crosshair, kind of bent and crooked. Might want to check that from the manufacturer, what do they think and if it affects performance. I would guess it really doesn't with that small bend although it might look disturbing.

Also, is that lens cracking in the low-right corner, the black smudge in the second picture?

2
block50OP•

Canted is no problem (to me).

But when you look through with the bare eye and not with a camera it's quite a problem and way more apparent (reticle crooked). A small bend wouldn't be soooo bad, but it seems like it's split at the top as well. Like a reversed " r "

Very tiny but irritating. Thanks to y'alls advice and most importantly conformation that it's not just me, I've contacted both the seller and manufacturer.

2
one_late•

Yea, thought so. I would try getting a sharper picture for the manufacturer, easier for them to say if it's normal and within their quality tolerances (shouldn't be).

More likely the house is not completely square. My guess is your scope is canted.

2
block50OP•

It's not the scope itself but the reticle

It looks a bit off but it's hard to say from the pics, if you have a leveling kit I would mount it and see what it looks like when the scope body is properly leveled

What brand us the scope? Also its hard to say.

1
block50OP•

It's a trijicon accupoint

1

They have a grear warranry they will fix it

1
block50OP•

I've tried authenticity checking the SN on their website and it says it's not by trijicon. Although support directed me through to someone to solve the problems.

Does that happen often

Hey there,

New scope arrived yesterday. Got a very good deal and it seemed to be originally packaged. But when I looked through for possible damage to test due to its long transit it looked off.

Turns out the bottom half of the vertical reticle seems thicker and "split" Thoughts? Send it back or not an issue?
