Out of curiosity, I read the full paper of the well-known Bangladeshi mask study to try and understand if there is actually a shred of evidence anywhere that masks work in macro-level situations.
Naturally, the researchers in the paper reach the "correct" conclusion that MASKS WORK. However, if you actually go through and read their data, you run into these inconvenient facts:
It goes without saying — all of these mandates in the real world from Missouri to Montreal have 90%+ of people wearing cloth masks, and no one's doing it properly — the masks aren't on tight, they're dirty, they're not covering the whole face, etc. Here in the real world, there is no chance whatsoever that any of the mandates are doing anything to meaningfully slow the spread.
So although the researchers reached the only acceptable result of MASKS WORK, you come away from reading their work with the complete opposite impression.
Also, I love how the mandates are so hellbent on removing individual agency. No mask mandate DOES NOT equate to no masks — people that don't want to wear them won't wear them, but people who do can do whatever the fuck they want — throw on 6x N95 for all we care. But that can never be considered — it must be about forcing the perceived non-compliant to kowtow to the will of the health elite.

They conflate the two on purpose, and argue with a straight face that laws that rule out mask mandates are the same restriction level as mask mandates.
And its true, so long as you assume freedom == slavery.
Cowards = Heroes, Left = Right, Fear = Bravery. That's our Looking Glass World right now.
Even the local news here in St. Louis pointed out that just across the river in St. Charles County, they've never had lockdowns nor any mask mandates yet have similar case loads.
I'm supporting Schmitt financially and through volunteering for his Senate campaign. I'll be voting for him in the primaries. I'm utterly helpless to do anything otherwise as I work in the education sector where I'm both marginalized as a critical thinker and moderate as well as marginalized in my Covid views. My life kind of looks like this as far as who I'm exposed to on a daily basis:
Intolerably Woke workplace/Blue city/^(Red state.)
There is no escaping this if you are surrounded by leftists, sadly.

They always put little snippets at the end of the article like “the county saw a sharp increase in [metric]” as if that’s relevant
