OP do you agree that gun laws should be put in place to protect these kids. I do
I do indeed!
Good so then maybe a national background check and a two week waiting period.
I think that’s a fantastic idea, genuinely!
Good, so let's make stricter gun laws nationally and let's help child stay safe from covid, and then help improve school education and then help with child hunger. We can do all this with a the Nordic model used in some European countries.
I think universal healthcare is needed to. Tooamy hardworking Americans such as the fire department, veterans , police , factory workers need better health care. This is the way
Then, question: do you vote for people who would do those things?

I also agree that we should ban guns and vaccinate children.
Protecting kids is just as good a reason for doing both of these things as any other.
Great post OP!
+1
Thanks <3
Conservatives obsession with Chicago is ridiculous. They don’t live in Chicago. What is sad is when these so called god fearing people become parents and raise school shooters. Whether it is Chicago, school shootings, or COVID, America is in a downward spiral. And Chicago is not the only problem. The so-called “patriots” are getting dumber than primates and in the drivers seat.
Especially when there are no end of Red, rural s-hole places with per-capita levels of violence that put Chicago to shame, but, like Red Hats, they're distributed over vast swaths of wasteland rather than concentrated in one location.
The lefts obsession with the rest of the world is ridiculous. They don’t live in North Korean so why should they care about the human rights of people they never even have to meet?
Question: why do we need to meet someone to care about them in the abstract? Like, should we not have cared about the Jews when the Holocaust was going on?
EDIT: Okay, I see that was the point you're making. Excuse me, I'm tired.
No worries, refuse to add the ‘/s’ these days. People should be able to figure it out.
Thanks for actually acknowledging a mistake on social media, what a rare moment lol.

I would say gun control laws are urgently needed. Don’t wait another day because that would cost a few kids lives. The cost of the second amendment is extremely high

"And that's why kids should have guns!"
Take my upvote!!!
Wow way self own. Impressive
Are you yoda?
Mmmm Idiot you are self owned you did
The correct comparative stat would be children 17 and younger who have been hospitalized by Covid, not died.
Or you have to compare the deaths (41) to deaths. It's still bad, but it's not agit prop devised to make the stupids repeat it gleefully.

It was admittedly a problematic stat, as is the hospitalization rate for children with covid in Chicago, which surpasses that 214 number--an agit prop lie of a comparative stat, devised to make stupids repeat it with glee--on a weekly basis.
Don't feed the troll. Downvote and move along. These people don't argue in good faith.

Thanks for making my point. If you cared about kids getting sick and or dying of covid and/or being victims of gun violence you would advocate to do something about both. But your argument is to do nothing that would prevent either. Have a nice day troll.
It seems like those two issues are not mutually exclusive. Both could be addressed without interfering on each other. One being bad isn’t a reason to stop fixing the other.
Why must right-wingers always play the zero sum game?
And stopping gun violence in Chicago is as simple as making common sense gun control nationwide so Chicago isn't being overrun by guns easily smuggled in from neighboring red states where the "background check" looks like that family guy meme about skin tone denoting a terrorist.
Because they don't argue in good faith. It's just throwing shit and they know it.

Then why not look at it like this?
The Republicans have fought against gun regulations for a long, long time. No one's holding out any real hope that's going to change. There's no reasonable way to get and enforce them in a way to make a difference in Chicago. So those 300 children who were shot (note that it didn't include "lethally shot", by the way)... that wasn't something that Democrats could have done much about.
But we can do something about COVID-19. And those 200+ deaths, that's something we can tackle.

Why not? Child deaths are clearly a thing - as you noted - and that should be prevented. Vaccinations help prevent it. We vaccinate babies for other diseases. Why shouldn't we vaccinate 5-year-olds for a disease that can hurt them?
Out of proportion?
Hospital bed wait times are ~17 hours in my city. Directly because of Omicron
[removed]
...do you have any clue how hospitals work?
ICU beds don't get filled because of people complaining of headcolds. Ambulances don't get turned away from more and more hospitals (until you can't turn them away, because all hospitals are equally overfull) because of people with mild symptoms.
30 people died- today - in my county because of COVID. It'd be one thing if you were just an ignorant buffoon, but you're actively a danger to everyone around you
