The link on RODE's website says that it is the firmware updater. But it really just downloads Rode Connect Software. I don't need/want any additional streaming software.

Same problem here on Windows. It's driving me nuts. l just email "CS" to ask them what's going on.
l could not find the way to update my Videomic NTG using "Rode Connect." If you managed to do so, please let me know 'how on earth' you did it... Thanks in advance!
Well I have the windows version of the original firmware updater if you want.
Rode got back to me:
"Thanks for getting in contact, and thanks for supporting RØDE.
That's correct the RØDE Connect software is the place to update the Firmware of the VideoMic NTG.
After installing RØDE Connect and updating the firmware of the microphone, you can uninstall the program if you wish.
Hope this helps."
As to how you do update the firmware with that program l have no clue. l'll write back to them...

You don't have to use Røde Connect in any kind of ongoing way. But I think you need it to do the firmware update.
