Stop AutoModerator from spamming my subreddit by "congratulating your community for 5 years"

Admin Replied

Seriously, I can't turn this off and why did this bot congratulate my subreddit for 5 years of existance 4 times in the past months? Am I mistaken or are we trapped in a time loop. Turn this garbage off, especially if it doesn't work properly.

I get that you’re frustrated. If you actually want resolution, a better bug report would help.

Can you provide a lot more information? What subreddit is this happening in? Do you have any example posts you can link to? Is it happening on any particular day? Does it seem to be happening once a month?

Y'know, this sorta talk would've been more believable if Admin actually acted on things much much simpler than software bugs.

I get that you're looking for any excuse to deflect responsibility for your profoundly broken website onto unpaid moderators and ask them to do more work before you lift a finger.

Can you provide a lot more information on why u/Chtorrr didn't take care of this three months ago like they said they would?

I know this stuff is frustrating, and I empathize. This is truly not deflection.

I’m an engineer, on a different team than this feature, on my weekend, browsing reddit as a user myself. I see this post and I would like this bug fixed. I would like to report this to the team responsible, so that they know about it. I know that the odds of this getting fixed are hugely higher if I can provide any detail for reproducing it, or other specifics.

I admit that “actually want” was probably a little snide on my part. But in about 95% of ways, my incentives are aligned with the OP and probably you: I’d like the bug fixed, and I want to help get it fixed.

You said the line!!

That's easy because Chtorrr says he's going to do things or look into them and doesn't. I don't think threads in this sub should be marked with 'admin replied' they should only be marked with 'Admin actually did something for once' when there is evidence that it happened.

As much as I'd love to be able to fix issues like this myself I am not any sort of engineer and you don't want me mucking about in code. This was previously highlighted as an issue to the team that worked on this feature - my understanding was that this was resolved but apparently either it's not or it's found a dun new way to happen again.

This reply is exactly why those of us who have run large web products want engineers responding to user tickets and exactly why we don't let them. :-)

I remember this one happened before on the same sub. I also remember they ended up giving details last time it happened (late last year). It looks like it didn't help.

They mod what, 6 subreddits? It's really that hard to figure out? Shit he has more details then some bug reports I fix...
