Shootout

Discussion

I'm a new player, and I've seen many players advise lower levels to play shootout in order to familiarize themselves with the game mechanics so I gave it a try. I'm level 9 and was in a lobby with level 30's 40's and a 50. Mostly everyone just camped. Seems like a waste of time play shootout as a level 50 and flex all over because you thrashed some n00bs.

Level is only reflective of your battle pass level. Game modes are just a mix of everybody. It will be rough for a while until you get the hang of the game. Some tips;

Use third person unless sniping.

Get use to peaking corners without showing your body and switch left/right shoulder.

Get familiar with weapon swaps/consume on LB and RB

Crouch when shooting for much better aim.

Good luck outlander.

Try some elimination. It’s not as competitive unless your in a team. There are also a lot more noobs there and you can use some somewhat decent strategy if you have some friends

The point of shootout for new players is not to win, or even be top three (congrats if you do, though). The point is to get familiar with the games gunplay mechanics without risking losing anything. It also gives you a chance to get into a LOT of fights compared to encounters. If you feel like you have the fighting part down already you don’t need to do it. Keep in mind that those same high level players are going to be in encounters as well so if you plan on getting in fights, how you do in shootout is going to be similar to how you are going to do in encounters. Thankfully you don’t HAVE to get in fights, but if you plan on it this is a good way to prepare for it.

Shootout and elimination will help you get to grips with how different guns fire (their recoil and so forth). Only by playing encounters will you start to learn where people are hiding or where the sweats are going to be running too. Even experienced players get caught out, that is the beauty of this game.

It took me a longggggggggggggggggggggggggg time to get to the point where I stood a solid chance of breaking top 4 every game of shootout I play. Which is where I'm at now. Getting number 1 is still a long shot. But it's possible. I dont find camping a viable option. I feel like if you want to get to the top of the lobby, you need to go find kills.
