A Poet's Paradelle (attempted in semi-iambic pentameter)

An attempt I made at a paradelle, a form created by Billy Collins in jest over the rigidness of formal poetry. Essentially the form is this: 4 stanzas, 6 lines each. For the first three stanzas, lines 1 and 2 are identical, and lines 3 and 4 are identical. Lines 5 and 6, however, can only use the words in lines 1 and 3 and nothing else. The last stanza follows a similar rule, and can only use the words used throughout the rest of the poem and nothing else. Spent a good while on that last stanza with a big list of every word I had used so far, just crossing them out and trying to re-arrange them. I only re-used each word once for the ending lines and stanza and to add another layer of difficulty I tried to do the whole poem in meter. Lemme know what you think.

I’ll write with words as smooth and rich as ink.

I’ll write with words as smooth and rich as ink.

To captivate all those who hear my tune.

To captivate all those who hear my tune.

With words I’ll captivate, my ink as rich

To those who write and hear all tune; as smooth.

Of love, of loss, of beauty too I’ll write.

Of love, of loss, of beauty too I’ll write.

With pen ablaze, my heart and soul alike.

With pen ablaze, my heart and soul alike.

I’ll pen of heart, of loss of love, and too,

Alike, my beauty soul ablaze with write.

I wish to speak such grand empowered things…

I wish to speak such grand empowered things…

To have my soul conveyed in ink and page.

To have my soul conveyed in ink and page.

Such ink, empowered things conveyed, my wish.

I have to speak, in page to grand, and soul.

To love, to things of such, my loss, and soul

I’ll write, and captivate with pen and page.

Have hear, all those alike who wish in words

Empowered too, I’ll smooth my tune of ink

To write as rich, as grand, of heart conveyed.

With ink I speak, my beauty soul ablaze.
