First hour of Cataclysm

It sounded as though thousands of voices cried out OH SHI and were all silenced.
It was like this on Beta as well. It was pretty hilarious. It was great watching waves an waves of people run into it, and die near instantly.
Oh my god, I didn't even see the bodies on the ground until you said that. I came to the comments cause I was like "is that what we're doing now, just showing old screencaps for karma?"
It's still a little too early for me...
It was.
Reminds me a bit of the first day of TBC in the belf starter area - took about 30 minutes from when the servers went live until the area was full of warlocks and their Infernals as well as HUNDREDS of skeletons.
First day of BC for me was relatively quiet. It was as if my realm had some levelling truce.
I wouldn't say that quest was hard, but I've definitely died to it before.... either wasn't paying attention or thought I was way too manly to back out of that inferno.
Our pvp server was more like four hours of suicide trying to quest out there, since horde:alliance ratio was something like 5:1.
Nothing like trying to quest while fighting premade-groups of people in full ICC-25 heroic gear or the high-tier arena sets.
Mm yes. This was how my draenei shaman spent much of her time when Cata came out.
Same with me except I'm horde. I had a Worgen DK follow me around and camp me for the first 3 hours I got to play Cata (maybe a week into it). I actually logged after about 30 minutes but kept coming back after about 15 minutes to him still being there. Takes dedication.
What UI is that? The simplicity is very nice.
It's Ishtara UI from like 2009. It isn't really available to download anymore unfortunately.

You see this every day "Elemental Goo" is the JC daily.

First 45 minutes:
Login server down.
The worst part I believe was that there was a bugged quest icon on your minimap that made it look like you should stand right on top of Baron Geddon.
And it was the best.
First hour? Try first week. Levelling was almost non-existant.
See, this is what you do the first day of an expansion: Get some friends/guildies together to make some 5-man groups, and farm the first dungeon until you all level twice. Then, you can skip past the first two leveling zones, and have no competition for quest mobs. It's how my guild got 8/10 of the Realm First class achievements the first day of Cata.
What was the expansion right before Firelands? Where you meet up with the Aspects in Hyjal? Or was that Firelands? I forget.
Yeah, when that hit it was just skeletons fucking everywhere in Hyjal on Tichondrius (PvP server). Wish I took a screen shot.

Just shows how brainless most of the baddies are...

I played through here on an alt not long ago, and screw that guy. There's so many corpses because the ability that will 1-shot you a) has no cast time so you can't run out before he uses it, b) has no channel so you don't know exactly when he's gonna finish, and c) it's area of effect has no relation whatsoever to the graphic that accompanies it.
EDIT: Getting a lot of downvotes, so I just went over there to check. Yep, no cast, no channel, no warning. No, the first few ticks don't kill you, but if you run in too early you do get one shot, and there's a great deal of incentive to run in as soon as possible because your window to channel is so short. Given that there's no channel, it's really easy to misjudge the timing. And sure, you can wait a few seconds to be sure he's done, but given that he only leaves 8 seconds between casts, and you're spending two or three seconds to be sure he's stopped, one second to run in, you get a grand total of 4 seconds of channel before he starts casting again.
Has it been nerfed? I just did this quest today, and I literally sat in it for 5 seconds before I realized something was killing me and I ran out.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.
It doesn't one-shot you, the damage scales. I've taken 7-8 ticks before needing to move away.
He has a cast and there is a warning in-game that makes a very loud noise alerting you as to what is about to happen.
If you miss any of the above things then it doesn't matter what kind of range the graphic has, you're too oblivious to anything around you anyways
Right?
Did it today on my lock. First tick is 2500 damage. I never let it get to 2.
I'm somewhat perplexed by this comment. He has a buff that shows the remaining duration of his fire AoE. I don't think there is much warning as to when he'll start, but you can figure out the safe duration if you just watch it a few times. Furthermore, it takes a decent number of ticks to kill you even if you're not right on time.
There is a warning, the Druid says something like, "get back, he's going to blow" (or something like that)
Corpses are there from pvp
They're from the flame elemental, this screen shot was taken on a pve realm.
Oh wow I didn't even realize. I did vashjir when cata came out and it looked similar to this, but due to all the pvp.
Oh look, herb botting druids are trying to get that one Cinderbloom.
