Is this still happening? I read that they postponed it but that was on FB so not very reliable.

Had to chuckle a little. Cyclists? In -30C weather?

I run all winter and I see multiple other runners every time I go out. I also have several colleagues that bike to work year-round. With the right gear and the right mindset it’s positively delightful.

I stand corrected; these are folks with stronger constitutions than mine.

Any particular gloves you'd recommend? I run in the winter as well and the one piece of gear I'm never satisfied with is gloves. Even layering them doesn't seem to help.

Try mittens!

Yeah, I may have to at this point.

I'm jealous, everything else I'm fine no matter how cold. But once it's below -10 that's when my hands hate it.

I wear these MEC gloves below about -10 °C:

MEC

(I also use these MEC gloves for x-country skiing.) Any thicker and I find that my hands get sweaty and that’s no good.

If I do find my hands getting cold with the MEC gloves I run with my arms extended straight down and swing them extra hard. It looks funny but it increases blood flow to your hands and works really well to warm them up although it does take a good minute or two to feel the effects.

In milder weather I wear thinner running gloves from Decathlon that have a mitt flap that folds over for cooler weather.

It seems that your comment contains 1 or more links that are hard to tap for mobile users. I will extend those so they're easier for our sausage fingers to click!

Here is link number 1 - Previous text "MEC"

I scoot around Glebe/Centretown on a bicycle at -30, but I only venture longer distances if it's -15 or warmer. Almost exclusively on bike paths, segregated lanes, or short urban blocks. I have a used mountain bike with studded tires. It's a actually really pleasant -- feels a bit like skiing.

There was one on Somerset St tonight.
