I’m happy for Staff. He and his wife are happy for him too. I’m a Lions fan. He and his wife and family are Rams fans. They’re buying tickets for Rams fans to watch the Rams play. They’re not buying tickets for Lion fans to watch the Lions. Goff continues to support LA schools but now also supports Michigan schools. Both places. The Staffords have moved and moved on. I’m here in Michigan cause I love it here. Did I mention I’m a Lions fan?

You realize there is a community center he developed here right?

Several of the Lions have done a lot for the community including Stafford. We definitely know what Staff has done when he was here.

Am I misunderstanding? It seems like you're saying he left and didn't do anything after the fact.

He lived up to the commitments he had made before he left. Time will tell if he continues. Having said that Goff is our QB also doing good things but fans are holding on to Stafford. I like the players here and that want to be here.

Go Niners, I want the highest pick even if it's only one slot difference. Stafford's personal success means nothing to me, he's wearing another team's jersey.

63.8 QBR vs SF he won't win. He threw 2 picks as well. He couldn't win a playoff game here with Calvin Johnson, one of the greatest WR of all time. If people are going to celebrate his success with another team they shouldn't ignore his failure with the Lions. They'll blame the Ford family, but they're not the ones on the field. At the end of the day all Stafford did for Detroit was add stats to his own resume. This guy was the #1 pick, he was supposed to be our messiah, and he wasn't.

This sub has just turned into Stafford fanboys, its sad. He WANTED to be traded because his wife wanted to move to CA, this isn't Robert Covington checking his Twitter and finding out before practice.

I hope Jimmy G beats them so bad and then taunts the crap out of Stat Padford.

Look, I appreciate everything Stafford did while he was here. But the obsession for him is like a crazy ex who can't accept the relationship is over. He chose to leave, we had good memories (at least I did), but LAR winning a Superbowl with him means nothing to me as a Lions fan.

LAR is a stacked team full of superstars, and the media acts like Stafford carried them when that definitely isn't the case.

I remember Tigers fans celebrating Verlander getting a world series win as if it benefited them in some way. It all makes no sense to me.

I'm not a fan of Bo Schembechler anymore after what came out, but one thing he got right was "the team, the team, the team".

Lions fans are allowed to be happy for the greatest QB ever to be drafted here, let alone play here for over a decade. Comparing him to literally any other player save for Barry* or Bobby Layne is a joke. The Tigers have had stars far greater than Verlander.

    • Barry >>>> Stafford, just to make that clear.

Especially after we've seen the lions straight up waste entire careers before. Plus it feels like a fuck you to the people who bad mouthed him the entire time he was here.

He didn’t “choose to leave”. He politely and professionally requested a trade.

That required cooperation and mutual respect to make that happen, which is what fans are continuing to demonstrate and it’s beautiful and you are wrong.

Ohh Martha will you please trade me. It’s too cold for my 100 million of riches you gave me

A lot of young people here that probably can only remember Stafford being Quarterback. I agree with you though.

I remember plenty of QBs. Being in my early/mid 30s, Stafford was the only one worth a damn.

Dude legit felt like he failed Detroit because he wanted to bring a title here so bad. He didn’t see another opportunity here to get one, recognizing his window will soon be closing.

Yeah he missed a couple opportunities while here, but it’s clear he’s not taking his current opportunity for granted.

After getting that first playoff win out of the way - albeit he didn’t have to do a whole lot, just not give anything up - and the gutsy performance he had last week in spite of his coach’s conservative calls, (where have we seen that before?) it’s just easy to root for the guy.

At the start of the playoffs, yeah I wanted the better draft pick. But the dude is playing laser focused right now.

Cowboylion•

He did fail us for not bringing a championship here.

What happened when Brady went to Tampa? Didn’t he deliver a championship? That’s what great QBs do.

Lions players were happy for Stafford, why can’t fans be happy for him too? Frank Ragnow and Taylor Decker both tweeted their support. The media is most definitely not acting like Stafford got them there. Some are waiting for him to lose to jump on him and blame him and others want to show people what they saw in Stafford. Every QB needs a team to win and it’s no shame that Stafford is doing well with a good team. This is what he wanted; A good team so he could perform in big games. The Lions did not consistently build good teams for him. Even if it means nothing for you, it means a lot to me and others. The way that dude jumped in the video is how I reacted to Stafford winning. It is also how I reacted to the Lions winning their first game. People can be fans of Stafford and the Lions.

I have never cheered for the Rams, and Stafford playing there isn't changing that stance. I sometimes wonder if the fans who only cheer for the Rams because of Stafford would act the same way if he now played for the Packers...

They’re grilling you but there’s an angle here in which I can agree with. I love Stafford and can definitely say I’m happy for him and rooting for him. But the lions are my team and he’s not my quarterback anymore so it is what it is. Idk maybe I hate fun but I’m just starving for some lions success lol

Very clearly you were one of the ones who didn’t like Stafford while he was here. As now that he’s doing well it’s because of his “stacked team”. Let’s remember that his current teams defensive rank this season was 17th, and his running game was 25th. So even though there are two guys who most would consider top at their position in Donald and Ramsay, I don’t see how you can call this a stacked team. The major difference there is coaching. Plain and simple. He finally has a coach who can scheme guys open and let’s him use his strengths and he was a top 3 or 4 qb this year.
