Review:
This book does not improve over the first one. In fact, I have even more issues with it. Firstly, the Jen romance thing is so annoying, thanks to Omar not listening to my MC (a gay guy!) literally telling him that he is not into Jen at all. Secondly, soooo many hot new characters, and we’re still limited to just the same boring 4 LI’s from the first book? I wanted to romance Vince so badly, only to find out the game didn’t let me. Then there’s Slater and Ivy, who seem to merge into the same person after you eliminate one of them. Slater is so awesome, I hate that they did that to him. Also, Heath should be gay, as a counterpart to Eden. He need not have a crush on Kiana - why not some other character? Swap out Ronan for a compatible match for Heath, I’m sure no one would miss Mr. “Being Old Is My Only Personality Trait”. I switched over to Derek as my LI in this book because I think he's hotter than Adam lol (but they are both incredibly bland). On the subject of my love for Vince, I just think he's hot, and if Ivy can be redeemed, so can he. Yes, Vince misgendering Wrenn is a terrible thing for him to do, for sure, and he is a massive asshole, and a general douchebag, but I feel like they could have done a nice enemies to lovers arc with him, and have him redeem himself (with M/C’s help!). They could have had someone else be the villain in Book 3! All in all, this book fails to capitalize off of the interesting concept of Book 1. At least winning isn't locked behind a 50-diamond paywall now, so that's something I suppose.
